The key to understanding fear is that it is your friend, and it's just trying to protect you. On this weeks episode, I share with you five things I'm afraid of (not to say there aren't many more), why I'm afraid of them, and what I'm learning from the fears to try and get through them. My hope is that my honesty and vulnerability will inspire you to own your own fears, and bravely persevere through them.

Key Points:

  • People stop doing things because they let fear prevent them, but fear and shame aren't the same thing

  • Shame tells you you don't deserve good things, fear is just trying to protect you from what it doesn't understand or doesn't know

  • The way to deal with fear is to learn from it, and work through it

  • Fear #1 I'm afraid I'll end up alone

  • Fear #2 I'm afraid I'm undiagnosed with bipolar disorder

  • Fear #3 I'm afraid to mother a girl and carry the trend of "mothering" in my family

  • Fear #4 I'm afraid of being homeless

  • Fear #5 I'm afraid I'll never amount to anything

  • Your life is your own

Mentioned in this Episode:

  • Bipolar Disorder

  • Daryll Grylls: Being brave isn't the absence of fear. Being brave is having that fear, but finding a way through it

Bringing Me the Joy

Carolina has a strong presence that draws people toward her. I have seen staff members turn to her for her life experience, leadership skills and her honesty. The respect and admiration of her peers is a reflection of her strength and accomplishments in the face of adversity. Carolina displays a great sense of integrity, she always follows through when she commits. Her word is her bond.
