This week's episode, I got to sit down with Sandeep Dosanjh who graciously spoke about her battle with depression, and how it started to affect who she was. No longer being fulfilled with partying and self-medication, she decided to feel her anxiety and depression head on. This course of action prompted a spontaneous trip to Colombia, where she finally came to terms with no allowing fear to hold her back. From embarrassing confessions, and interesting opinions, this is a conversation anyone will for sure get something out of.
Key Points:
Struggled with depression from a young age and would always try to push the feelings away an invalidate them
Decided something needed to change, and she flipped her thinking that this was okay, and to give herself more compassion, and love herself
Got into Teal Swan's spiritual videos on YouTube on how your'e feeling and different ways of thinking. It's okay to feel the way you feel, and if you want to get through pain, you have to live it and feel it fully
Started reading books and doing yoga to help feel whatever she was feeling
Took a trip to London with family, and felt that depression lift, but once she got back home, it hit her all over again
Realized she needed to go somewhere else, on her own, and booked a trip to Colombia
Spent the first little while scared to go outside, and crying all the time and then realized she didn't come here to sit in fear, and ventured into touring Colombia and immersing herself in the culture
Decided to stop drinking and self-medicating with drugs because she feels it affected her brain chemistry when anxiety and depression were already doing that
